Between the 10th and 12th centuries, the term “Corte” referred to the group of family members, aristocrats, and servants gathered around a lord. The court is named “La corte dei Mesci,” which means “The court of the masters.” Inside, there are five lodgings dedicated to five different ancient trades:

- “U Spurtaru”, which in the Salento dialect referred to the artisan specialized in creating bags and baskets. Using exclusive natural raw materials like rush, U Spurtaru skillfully crafted bags, baskets, and containers for bread and fruit.
- “U Farraru”, the artisan specialized in ironworking. Utilizing iron bars of various sizes in their forge, U Farraru skillfully created tools, work equipment, and horseshoes.
- “Mesce”, which in the Salento dialect referred to women who skillfully created textiles using “U Talari” (Loom). They were highly skilled in tobacco processing, olive and wheat harvesting, among other tasks. Mesce were an integral part of the artisan masters' lives, assisting them in their work and household duties, such as caring for children and ensuring daily meals.
- “U Marinaru”, or the artisan specialized in fishing. Using boats and fishing nets, U Marinaru, thanks to fish-rich waters, provided daily food for the local population.
- “U Critaru”, which in the local jargon referred to the artisan specialized in clay craftsmanship. U Critaru skillfully made sculptures, vases, plates, and much more using exclusively clay.
